The most expensive pair of sneakers I ever bought

Happy Sunday!

Hope you're well!
I wanted to continue this newsletter for a long time. Let's see how consistent it'll get this time. If anyone is up for a bet any kind of commitment contract let me know :)

Last weekend I signed up to STEPN – a web3 fitness app. The idea of this game: earn money as you walk.

How it works:
1) You buy a pair of sneakers at around 12 SOL(~1200$)
2) The app tracks your steps.
3) You use up your virtual energy and get paid for walking around.

It's very hyped right now with over 300k daily users. And hard to predict how long this will last. But so far I've been "earning" ~50$ per day by just walking around the block every night.

This article is a good starting point if you're interested in how to get started. What I found missing is what kind of sneakers you should get for the beginning and what stats are important to look out for. If you want to give it a try, here is what I did: After reading the STEPN whitepaper and a few blog posts, I focused on Efficiency and Resilience (ignore Luck and Comfort) and ended up paying 14,5 SOL for my first pair. They turned out to be pretty solid.

The biggest downsides right now for this game:
- It's hard to get an activation code. (I do have one to share…)
- You gotta spend a few thousand $$ to get going.
- Nobody knows how long the hype is going to last. (DYOR)

Let me know what you think about this text.
Have a great week,
Jakob
